I am curious what your response would be now that the contest is over and with all 500 contestants views of the contest and it's results.
I know for myself there are lots of unhappy people that feel that this contest was not fair and rules changed though the contest & too many people that were personally linked to the judges.

I completely agree Peter. The way Rannie approaches people is in a very sincere manner, and as a result we are more likely to give him our vote. I think if he were to approach us in a way that isn't fitting with his personality people would easily catch on and would feel very turned off by it.

Kevin, I'd add that a big factor in Rannie's success with this project is the *intention* with which he interacts with his audience.

Rannie is a nice guy, and that comes through. I am usually super hesitant to get involved in any kind of contest that involves my having to sign up at (yet another) site. But because Rannie is such a genuinely nice guy, I truly want to see him win.

This is a really important point – one I'm not doing sufficient justice to here. The intention and motivation with which one engages their audience in the social media sphere is critical.
